Vigna Bastignano, Historic Vintages – Chianti Classico Gran Selezione D.O.C.G.
89,00 € 689,00 €
For over a decade, Villa Calcinaia has undertaken a comprehensive plan to revitalize its Chianti Classico wine production, which has included the replanting of much of its vineyard heritage. Key elements of this replanting program have been the commitment to restoring terraced terrain—allowing vines to be planted along contour lines rather than down steep slopes—and the recovery of historic Sangiovese populations, identified vine by vine from the “camporaioli” plots. From this new generation of vineyards, located in the clay-limestone amphitheater fringed by the iconic umbrella pines of the Podere Bastignano, came the first vintage in 2006 of a pure Sangiovese wine that bears the name of the estate itself. An open and distinctive expression of the warm, sunlit ecological niche in which it thrives.
