Tor Solis is made from Chenin Blanc grapes, one of the oldest varieties in France with its natural habitat in the central Loire Valley. Cultivated in the Le Refie estate at 710 meters above sea level, it is a grape variety of character that adapts well to the microclimate typical of the Chianti mountains: fresh springs, large temperature swings in summer, harsh winters, and cool, rainy autumns.

Tasting notes

Beautiful freshness. Notes of lime, undergrowth, white flowers, and intense minerality. On the palate, it is bold, fresh, with a complex and harmonious finish. It requires aeration to fully open up and best develop its intense and complex aromatic profile.

Pairings

Perfect to enjoy with vegetable risottos, grilled fish, smoked fish appetizers, sushi and sashimi, fried fish, and blue cheeses.

Francesco Capponi (1612–1676), Chief Chaplain of the Grand Dukes of Tuscany and member of the Accademia della Crusca, known for his piety and culture. Villa Calcinaia Tor Solis is a tribute to his appreciation for France, which was also recognized by King Louis XIV.
